Ring Playing Cards

Ring Playing Cards is a custom playing card deck developed and launched through a successful Kickstarter campaign, designed with a clear focus on cardistry performance and visual rhythm. The project explores how graphic repetition and circular forms can enhance motion, creating strong visual feedback during fans, spreads, and flourishes.

The card backs feature a bold circular motif and one-way design, carefully composed to emphasise rotation and flow in movement. Graphic decisions were driven by performance testing, ensuring the design reads clearly in both static displays and dynamic handling. The deck was printed by the United States Playing Card Company (USPCC) on premium crushed stock, delivering a high-quality feel and consistent handling suited to professional use.

Kickstarter enabled the project to move from concept to full production, connecting directly with a global audience of cardists and collectors. The final deck was produced as a limited-edition release, with a matte tuck box and refined finishing that reinforce the minimal, performance-led visual identity.

This project demonstrates an end-to-end approach to design, combining cardistry-focused graphic design, manufacturing knowledge, and community-driven funding to create a considered, performance-ready product.
