Playing Card Cabinet

This A2 project focused on the design and production of a storage and display unit for playing cards, balancing functionality with visual presentation. The aim was to create a unit that both protects the decks and presents them in a way that reflects their collectible value.

The design process began with exploratory sketching to develop form and layout ideas, followed by cardboard modelling to test scale, proportion, and usability. These physical models informed the refinement of the design before it was developed further using CAD, allowing precise control over dimensions and structure.

Anthropometric data was used throughout the project to ensure the unit was comfortable to access, intuitive to use, and suitable for a wide range of users. This data-driven approach informed key decisions around height, reach, and spacing, ensuring the final design was both practical and user-centred.

The project demonstrates a considered workflow that moves from concept development through physical prototyping to digital resolution, highlighting an interest in designing objects that are functional, accessible, and visually engaging.
